Your ideas will shape Aotearoa’s future. If you’re 18 years or younger, you’re invited to be a part of Dreams for the Decade. Express your moemoeā for the decade through poetry, visual art or both. Make sure Aotearoa knows what matters to you.

How to participate
It’s easy to participate in Dreams for the Decade. Just follow the steps below.
Think about your hopes and dreams for your life now and the next 10 years.
Focus on what matters to you. It might be your family and whānau, your community, your hobbies, time with friends, the environment, social issues or something else. Imagine what your hopes and dreams for the decade look and feel like, and what you want to see in your future.
Express your dreams for the decade in a way that works for you.
Choose one option: write a poem, make a piece of visual art, or make something combining art and poetry. Your entry must be original, by you. If you want to express your dreams for the decade with a group of other children or teenagers, that’s fine too!
Submit your entry to us by the end of Monday, 20 July 2020.
Email or post us your entry (only one per person or group), remembering to include your name, age and any other information you might want to include about your entry. Otherwise, you can choose to enter via Instagram, by posting your entry on your page and tagging us (@dreamsforthedecade)
We’ll be in touch with updates, and you can always contact us: email@example.com
Our judges will be choosing a selection of their favourite entries. See what you could be in to win.
Follow @dreamsforthedecade on Instagram for updates.
Get your friends, family and whānau to follow, too!
Championing tamariki and rangatahi
Barnardos is proud to bring you Dreams for the Decade.
Barnardos is Aotearoa’s national children’s charitable NGO. Our vision is ‘An Aotearoa New Zealand where every child shines bright’. Every day we’re working to support and advocate for tamariki and rangatahi, so you can live to your full potential, and so that families, whānau and our communities are awesome places for you to be. We created Dreams for the Decade so you have a platform to share your hopes and dreams for the new decade with the rest of Aotearoa, because your moemoeā matter.

Some entries will also feature in a Dreams for the Decade exhibition later this year. We’ll be selecting top entries across the age categories (and the group category), and announcing some choice prizes soon.
